There isn’t much I want to write here that can’t be gleaned from my blog. Nevertheless, here is a short summary. I love running. I used to be 30Kg heavier than I am now, I used to drink every day and smoke heavily every day. I did no exercise from when I left university all the way through my 20′s.
On 24 December 2005 I woke up with a shocking hangover (another one) and decided something had to change. I stopped smoking that day, from 40 per day to zero. I have never missed smoking since that day. I started cycling to and from work and after a few months I started doing short runs.
After a while I decided to enter a half marathon. Then a marathon. Then another. Now I am a committed runner (and sometime triathlete) with dozens of marathons under my belt and even more half marathons, 10K’s, 20 milers, 10 milers and a few ultramarathons.
I really like reading about running, cycling, hiking, climbing, swimming, endurance and adventure because these are the challenges I thrive on. Now I’m going to try to write about the same here and on twitter as @theredsquirrel. Let me know what you think.
